The 1983 Nebraska Cornhuskers had a successful season under Tom Osborne's leadership, finishing with a record of 12-1 and winning the Orange Bowl. This was the second of three national championships that Osborne would win during his career at Nebraska.

Tom Osborne's offense style at the 1983 Nebraska was known for its physicality and power running game. The team relied heavily on the fullback position, which was often used to lead block for the running back in a straight-ahead power running attack. However, Osborne was also known for his willingness to adapt his offensive strategies to fit the strengths of his players, and he incorporated more passing plays into the offense as the game evolved over time.
