2018 North Carolina Offense - Larry Fedora

The coach of the 2018 North Carolina football team was Larry Fedora.

Larry Fedora is a former American football coach who most recently served as the head coach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2012 to 2018. He was born on September 10, 1962, in College Station, Texas, and graduated from Austin College in 1986.

Prior to his time at UNC, Fedora was the head coach at Southern Miss from 2008 to 2011, and before that, he was an assistant coach at various universities, including Florida, Oklahoma State, and Middle Tennessee State. He is known for his spread offense and up-tempo style of play, which has been successful throughout his coaching career.

During his tenure at UNC, Fedora led the team to a record of 45-43 and four bowl appearances, including a victory in the 2013 Belk Bowl. He was fired from the position in 2018 after the team finished with a 2-9 record.

Fedora's last season as head coach at North Carolina was in 2018. During his tenure, he led North Carolina to a record of 45-43, with four bowl appearances and two conference division championships. His most successful season was in 2015 when he led the team to an 11-3 record and an appearance in the ACC Championship Game. In 2018, the North Carolina football team was coached by interim head coach, Everett Withers, for the final game of the season.

Larry Fedora was fired by North Carolina in 2018, so he did not coach the team that season. However, during his time at North Carolina from 2012-2017, he was known for running a high-octane spread offense that emphasized tempo and explosiveness. The offense frequently used up-tempo no-huddle schemes, and often featured a lot of pre-snap motion to try and create mismatches or confusion for the defense. Fedora's offense relied heavily on the quarterback position, and often utilized both designed quarterback runs and quick, short passes to help move the ball down the field. In terms of overall offensive philosophy, Fedora emphasized an aggressive, attacking approach that focused on getting the ball into the hands of his playmakers and letting them create big plays.
