Cincinnati Bengals 4-3 Defense (2002) - Dick LeBeau
Dick LeBeau was the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals from 2000 to 2002. He was fired after the 2002 season, when the Bengals finished with a record of 2-14.
LeBeau was a well-respected defensive coordinator before he became a head coach. He had spent 21 seasons as a defensive coordinator in the NFL, including 16 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. LeBeau's defenses were known for their aggressive style of play and their ability to create turnovers.
The 4-3 defense used on the 2002 Cincinnati Bengals was a fairly standard defense. It was a four-down-linemen, three-linebacker scheme. The defense was designed to stop the run and pressure the quarterback.
The Bengals' 4-3 defense was led by linebacker Brian Simmons. Simmons was a three-time Pro Bowler who was one of the best linebackers in the NFL. Simmons was the Bengals' defensive leader, and he was responsible for calling the defensive plays.
