The 1999 Maryland Terrapins football team finished the season with a record of 5-6, including a 2-6 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Terrapins were led by head coach Ron Vanderlinden, who was in his third season at Maryland.
The Terrapins' offense ranked 10th in the ACC in scoring offense, averaging 26.5 points per game. The offense was led by quarterback Calvin McCall, who threw for 2,310 yards and 15 touchdowns. Running back LaMont Jordan rushed for 1,124 yards and 10 touchdowns. Wide receiver Guilian Gary caught 50 passes for 765 yards and six touchdowns.
The Terrapins' defense ranked 9th in the ACC in scoring defense, allowing 26.0 points per game. The defense was led by linebackers Shawn Forte and Renard Cox, who both recorded over 100 tackles. The defense also featured defensive tackle Marlon Moore, who had 11 sacks.
The defensive coordinator for the 1999 Maryland Terrapins football team was Wally Ake. Ake was in his third season as defensive coordinator at Maryland, and he helped lead the team to a 5-6 record.
The 1999 Maryland Terrapins football team's defensive line was a solid unit, but it was not one of the team's strengths. The Terrapins lost four defensive linemen to the NFL before the start of the season, and they were forced to rely on a number of young and inexperienced players.
