1979 Ole Miss Splitback Offense - Steve Sloan

Steve Sloan was the coach of the 1979 Ole Miss football team.

Steve Sloan was a former quarterback at the University of Alabama and a highly successful football coach. He coached at several universities during his career, including Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and Duke. He also worked as an assistant coach in the NFL.

Steve Sloan's teams at Ole Miss were generally successful, but the 1979 team struggled. That year, the team went 4-6-1 and finished in seventh place in the SEC. However, the team did have some bright spots, including a win over rival Mississippi State.

Steve Sloan's offense style at 1979 Ole Miss was a pro-style offense with a heavy emphasis on the passing game. The quarterback, John Fourcade, threw for nearly 2,000 yards and 16 touchdowns during the season, while the team also had a solid running game led by Tim Moffett. While the 1979 team struggled overall, the offense was able to put up points and keep the team competitive in many of its games.
