Arkansas State Red Wolves Offense (1989) - Jim Walden

The offensive coordinator for the 1989 Arkansas State Red Wolves was Jim Walden. He was a former player and assistant coach at the University of Arkansas. He was known for his innovative offensive schemes and his ability to develop quarterbacks.

Walden's offense was a variation of the wishbone offense that was popular in the 1970s. He added a few wrinkles to the offense, including a play-action pass that was called the "wildcat." The wildcat play was a designed quarterback run, but the quarterback could also throw the ball if he saw an open receiver.

The Red Wolves' offense was very successful in 1989. They led the nation in rushing with 2,916 yards and 37 touchdowns. They also averaged 36.2 points per game, which was the fourth-most in the country.
