1991 New York Giants - Bud Carson

Bud Carson was a football coach who helped shape the modern game. He was known for his aggressive style of defense and his ability to get the most out of his players.

Carson was born in Freeport, Pennsylvania, in 1930. He played college football at North Carolina, where he was a two-time All-ACC selection. After college, Carson played briefly in the NFL before embarking on a coaching career.

Carson's first coaching job was at the University of Pittsburgh, where he served as an assistant coach from 1957 to 1967. He then moved on to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was the defensive coordinator from 1968 to 1977.

In 1978, Carson was hired as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. He led the Browns to three consecutive playoff appearances, including an appearance in the AFC Championship Game in 1980.

After being fired by the Browns in 1985, Carson spent two seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He then returned to the Browns as the head coach in 1987.

Carson's second stint with the Browns was not as successful as his first. He was fired after the 1989 season.

Carson retired from coaching in 1990. He died in 2005 at the age of 74.

Bud Carson was the head coach of the New York Giants from 1990 to 1993. His teams were not very successful, compiling a record of 21-33-1 during his tenure.

The Giants' defense was the strength of Carson's teams. The Giants ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in points allowed in each of Carson's three seasons. However, the Giants' offense was inconsistent, and the team never made the playoffs under Carson.

One of the bright spots on the Giants' defense in 1991 was linebacker Lawrence Taylor. Taylor was a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and he was still one of the best players in the NFL in 1991. Taylor had 10 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in 1991.

Another bright spot on the Giants' defense in 1991 was safety Emmitt Thomas. Thomas was a Pro Bowler in 1991, and he had 6 interceptions and 10 passes defended.

During his tenure with the 1991 New York Giants, Bud Carson used a lot of 3-4 defense. Resulting in good wins and contributions to the sport.
