Delta State Statesmen 3-3 Stack Defense (2003)

The 2003 Delta State Statesmen football team was one of the most successful teams in school history. The team finished the regular season with a record of 10-2, and they won the Gulf South Conference championship. The Statesmen also advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs, where they lost in the quarterfinals to the University of West Florida.

The Statesmen were led by quarterback Will Hall, who was named the Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Hall threw for 3,227 yards and 37 touchdowns in 2003. He also rushed for 390 yards and six touchdowns.

According to the Delta State University Football 2003 Media Guide, the defense coordinator for the 2003 Delta State Statesmen was John Sillett.

John Sillett is a former college football player and coach. He played college football at the University of Arkansas, where he was a two-time All-Southwest Conference selection. After his playing career ended, Sillett began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Arkansas. He went on to coach at a number of different schools, including Memphis State University, the University of Mississippi State, and the University of North Alabama.

The 3-3 stack defense is a defensive alignment consisting of three down linemen and three linebackers, with the linemen and linebackers aligned directly over one another. This alignment creates a "stack" of defenders in the middle of the field, which can be very effective against running plays.

The 3-3 stack defense is also known for its versatility. It can be used to defend against both pass and run plays, and it can be adapted to a variety of different offensive formations.
