The 2004 East Carolina Pirates football team was an American football team that represented East Carolina University as a member of Conference USA during the 2004 NCAA Division I-A football season. In their second season under head coach John Thompson, the team compiled a 2–9 record.

Noah Brindise was the offensive coordinator of the 2004 East Carolina Pirates. He was hired by head coach John Thompson in 2004, and he spent one season with the Pirates before leaving to become the offensive coordinator at the University of South Florida.

Brindise was a former quarterback at the University of Florida, where he played under head coach Steve Spurrier. After graduating from Florida, Brindise played in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The offense used by the 2004 East Carolina Pirates was a spread offense. The spread offense is a type of pass-oriented offense that emphasizes quick throws, short passes, and big plays. The spread offense is designed to spread the defense out and create mismatches in favor of the offense.
