Bob Reade was also the coach of the 1992 Augustana Vikings football team.
The 1992 Augustana Vikings football team finished the season with a record of 12–1 and advanced to the NCAA Division III championship game, where they lost to the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. They were led by quarterback John Jansen, who was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
The Vikings' offense was again one of the best in the country in 1992. They averaged 40.5 points per game, which was ranked 4th in the nation. They were led by Jansen, who threw for 3,500 yards and 35 touchdowns. The Vikings also had a good running game, led by running back Mark Anderson, who rushed for 1,300 yards and 18 touchdowns.
The Vikings' defense was also very good in 1992. They allowed just 13.3 points per game, which was ranked 11th in the nation. They were led by linebacker Todd Willer, who was again named to the All-American team.
The Wing-T offense is a type of formation that has two wide receivers, two tight ends, and one running back. The Wing-T formation is designed to create mismatches for the defense and to make it difficult for the defense to stop the run.
Bob Reade used the Wing-T offense at Augustana College from 1979 to 1994. His Wing-T offense was characterized by its use of a variety of running plays, including the zone read and the option. These plays are designed to give the quarterback the option to either hand the ball off to the running back or keep the ball and run himself. This makes it difficult for the defense to stop the run and forces them to defend against both the run and the pass.
