Denver Broncos West Coast Offense (2004) - Mike Shanahan & Gary Kubiak
The 2004 Denver Broncos were a solid team, but they were not quite as good as the 2002 team. They finished the regular season with a record of 10-6, and they lost to the Indianapolis Colts, 49-24, in the wild card round of the playoffs.
Mike Shanahan and Gary Kubiak were the head coach and offensive coordinator of the 2004 Denver Broncos, respectively. They were both highly respected coaches, and they had a good track record of success. However, the 2004 Broncos were not quite as good as some of their previous teams.
Shanahan was a disciple of the West Coast offense, and he brought that system to Denver in 1995. Kubiak was a quarterback under Shanahan in Denver from 1991 to 1994, and he learned the West Coast offense inside and out.
The West Coast offense used by the 2004 Denver Broncos was a pass-oriented offense that emphasized short passes and quick gains. It was designed to move the ball down the field efficiently and avoid turnovers. The offense was also known for its flexibility, as it could be adapted to a variety of different personnel and defensive schemes.
