Georgia Southern Eagles Flexbone Option Offense (1990s) - Paul Johnson
The 1990 Georgia Southern Eagles football team was a very successful team. They finished the season with a record of 9-3 and won the Southern Conference championship. This was the Eagles' third consecutive conference championship.
Paul Johnson was the offensive coordinator of the 1990 Georgia Southern Eagles football team, and he ran a very successful version of the flexbone triple option. The Eagles finished the season with a record of 9-3 and won the Southern Conference championship. This was Johnson's second season as offensive coordinator of the Eagles, and he had helped to lead them to a conference championship in his first season.
Johnson was a very good offensive coordinator, and he was able to get the most out of his players. The Eagles were led by quarterback Brett Favre, who was one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Favre threw for over 3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns in 1990. The Eagles also had a strong running game led by running back Robert Edwards, who rushed for over 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Johnson's offense was based on the triple option, which is a run-oriented offense that is designed to keep the defense guessing. The triple option offense was very effective in 1990, as the Eagles averaged over 300 rushing yards per game.
