Marshall Thundering Herd Offense (1996) - Larry Kueck

Larry Kueck was the offensive coordinator of the 1996 Marshall Thundering Herd football team. It was his first season as offensive coordinator at Marshall, and he helped lead the team to a 15-0 record and a Division I-AA national championship.

Kueck was a disciple of the Air Coryell offense, and he installed it at Marshall. The Air Coryell offense is a pro-style offense that emphasizes quick passes, vertical routes, and misdirection. The offense is designed to get the ball to playmakers in space and to create mismatches for the defense.

The Thundering Herd's Air Coryell offense was one of the best in the country in 1996. The Thundering Herd ranked first in the nation in passing yards and second in the nation in total yards. The offense was led by quarterback Eric Kresser, who threw for 3,244 yards and 28 touchdowns in 1996. Running back Randy Moss rushed for 1,708 yards and 28 touchdowns in 1996. Wide receiver Erik Thomas caught 79 passes for 1,328 yards and 13 touchdowns in 1996.
