Maryland Terrapins Offense (2000)
The 2000 Maryland Terrapins football team finished the season with a record of 5-6, including a 3-5 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Terrapins were led by head coach Ron Vanderlinden, who was in his fourth and final season at Maryland.
The Terrapins' offense ranked 11th in the ACC in scoring offense, averaging 26.3 points per game. The offense was led by quarterback Calvin McCall, who threw for 2,533 yards and 20 touchdowns. Running back LaMont Jordan rushed for 920 yards and nine touchdowns. Wide receiver Guilian Gary caught 568 yards and five touchdowns.
The offensive coordinator of the 2000 Maryland Terrapins football team was Bob Heffner. Heffner was in his second season as offensive coordinator at Maryland, and he helped lead the team to a 5-6 record.
Heffner left Maryland after the 2000 season to become the offensive coordinator at the University of Memphis. He would later serve as the offensive coordinator at the University of Florida and the University of Iowa.
Heffner is a well-respected offensive coordinator in the college football world. He is known for his ability to develop quarterbacks, and he is also known for his innovative offensive schemes.
