Notre Dame Fighting Irish Box Offense (1921) - Knute Rockne

The 1921 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team was one of the most successful teams in school history. The Irish finished the season with a record of 10-1 and were ranked #1 in the country by the Helms Athletic Foundation. The Irish were led by head coach Knute Rockne, who was in his fourth season at Notre Dame.

Knute Rockne (1888-1931) was the head coach of the 1921 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team. He was in his fourth season at Notre Dame, and he led the Irish to their first national championship in school history.

Rockne was a pioneer of the game of football. He was one of the first coaches to use the forward pass extensively, and he developed a number of innovative offensive schemes. Rockne was also a master motivator, and he was able to get the most out of his players.
